Do all three programs contain the same pharmacy technician curriculum?
Yes. Self-Paced, Guided, and Career Ready include the same complete eight-module curriculum and approximately 120 hours of training. The difference is the amount of academic support, accountability, and individualized career preparation included.
Are all three training programs completely online?
Yes. All three programs are delivered online with flexible, self-paced coursework. There are no required live classes. Career Ready includes one scheduled 15-minute virtual mock interview as part of its career-preparation services.
Do I need previous pharmacy or healthcare experience?
No. Each program is beginner-friendly and is designed to build pharmacy technician knowledge from the beginning.
How long does the pharmacy technician training take?
The curriculum includes approximately 120 training hours. Your completion time depends on your schedule, prior knowledge, and study pace. For planning, 5 hours per week is about 24 weeks, 10 hours per week is about 12 weeks, and 15 hours per week is about 8 weeks. These are examples, not required deadlines.
How long will I have access to the course?
Course access remains active until you complete all required program components. After completion, you receive up to 12 additional months of independent review access for PTCE preparation. Post-completion access ends when you pass the PTCE or when the review period expires, whichever occurs first.
Can I start with Self-Paced and upgrade later?
Yes, while your enrollment remains active. You may upgrade from Self-Paced to Guided for $500 or directly to Career Ready for $1,253. Active Guided students may upgrade to Career Ready for $753. Your existing coursework and progress stay in place, so you do not restart the curriculum. View current student upgrades.
Does completing a program make me a Certified Pharmacy Technician?
No. Successful completion earns an academy certificate of completion and meets PTCB's recognized education pathway requirement to apply for the PTCE. PTCB separately determines eligibility and awards the CPhT credential after a candidate meets all requirements and passes the examination.
Is the PTCB application and examination fee included in tuition?
No. The PTCB application and examination fee is paid separately to PTCB. State registration, licensing, background-check, or fingerprinting expenses are also separate when required.
