Educational Provider Notice

The Academy provides pharmacy technician education, examination preparation, study resources, career-development resources, tutoring, and related educational products and services.

The Academy is an educational provider. It is not:

  • A pharmacy

  • A healthcare provider

  • A medical practice

  • A state board of pharmacy

  • A government licensing agency

  • A certification examination provider

  • An employer or staffing agency

The Academy does not dispense medications, provide patient care, establish pharmacy policies, make employment decisions, issue professional licenses, or independently award the PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician credential.

PTCB Recognition and Independence

Barrett Pharmacy Technician Certification Academy is a PTCB-Recognized Education/Training Program for pharmacy technician education.

PTCB recognition means that the applicable education or training program has been reviewed under PTCB’s recognized program requirements. PTCB states that recognized programs provide foundational knowledge intended to help learners prepare for PTCB examinations, but a recognized program may not cover every topic that appears on an examination. (PTCB)

Recognition does not mean that PTCB owns, operates, accredits, sponsors, or broadly endorses the Academy. PTCB’s trademark policy specifically requires recognized programs to avoid presenting recognition in a way that implies accreditation or endorsement. (PTCB)

The Academy is independently owned and operated. PTCB controls its own:

  • Certification requirements

  • Candidate eligibility decisions

  • Applications

  • Examinations

  • Examination content

  • Testing policies

  • Fees

  • Scoring

  • Credentialing decisions

  • Certification renewal requirements

  • Disciplinary actions

Completion of an eligible PTCB-Recognized Education/Training Program may satisfy PTCB’s education and training pathway. Candidates must also meet all current PTCB requirements, complete the PTCB application process, receive approval, and earn a passing score on the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam to receive the PTCB CPhT credential. (PTCB)

PTCB recognition does not guarantee that a student will be approved to test, pass the examination, receive certification, obtain state registration or licensure, or secure employment.

Certification and Certificate of Completion

The Academy may issue a certificate of completion to a student who successfully completes the applicable Academy program requirements.

An Academy certificate of completion documents completion of an educational program. It is not, by itself:

  • The PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician credential

  • A state pharmacy technician registration

  • A state license

  • Authorization to practice pharmacy

  • Proof of employment eligibility in every jurisdiction

  • A guarantee of examination approval

  • A guarantee of examination success

Only the applicable credentialing or government authority may issue the certification, registration, license, permit, or other authorization it administers.

Students must not represent an Academy certificate of completion as a PTCB certification, state license, pharmacist credential, or other credential that the Academy is not authorized to issue.

State Registration and Licensing Requirements

Pharmacy technician requirements may differ by state, territory, employer, workplace, and job function. Requirements may include registration, licensing, education, training, background checks, examinations, age requirements, continuing education, supervision, or other conditions.

Students and prospective students are responsible for reviewing the current requirements for the location in which they intend to work before enrolling, applying for employment, applying for an examination, or relying on a course for regulatory eligibility.

The Academy may provide general information about certification and state requirements, but it does not make final eligibility decisions on behalf of PTCB, a state board of pharmacy, an employer, or another regulatory organization.

Regulations, eligibility standards, fees, examination requirements, and employer policies may change after information is published.

No Examination or Employment Guarantee

The Academy is designed to provide education, structured learning, assessment, and certification-aligned preparation. Individual results vary.

Enrollment, participation, course completion, tutoring, instructor support, study-product purchases, or prior student outcomes do not guarantee:

  • A passing examination score

  • PTCB certification

  • State registration or licensure

  • Employment

  • An interview

  • A promotion

  • A particular wage or salary

  • Acceptance into another educational program

  • Employer reimbursement

  • Completion within a particular time

  • Success in a specific pharmacy setting

Student results may depend on preparation, participation, prior knowledge, study habits, examination performance, eligibility, local requirements, employer decisions, and other circumstances outside the Academy’s control.

Any student success rates, instructor outcomes, testimonials, reviews, or examples describe particular experiences and should not be interpreted as guarantees of future results.

Changes to This Notice

The Academy may revise this Legal Notice to reflect changes in its programs, products, technology, recognition status, policies, or legal obligations.
