Successful completion of an eligible academy certification training course meets PTCB’s recognized education pathway requirement to apply for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam, or PTCE.
PTCB separately reviews candidate eligibility, administers the examination, and awards certification.
Does the academy provide national certification?
No. The academy provides pharmacy technician education and a certificate of completion.
National CPhT certification is awarded separately by PTCB after the candidate meets eligibility requirements and passes the PTCE.

Students do not need to attend scheduled classroom sessions.
Are there required live classes?
No. The coursework is asynchronous and may be completed around the student’s schedule.
Guided and Career Ready students receive support through email, progress check-ins, and assessment review rather than required live classes.
When can I start?
Students may enroll when they are ready. Course-access instructions are sent using the email address provided during enrollment.
How long does the course take?
The curriculum includes approximately 120 hours of education.
Actual completion time depends on the student’s schedule, prior knowledge, study habits, and pace.
How long will I have access to the course?
Students retain access until they successfully complete all required program components.
After completion, students receive up to 12 additional months of review access for PTCE preparation.
Post-completion access ends when the student passes the PTCE or when the 12-month review period expires, whichever occurs first.
Is course access permanent?
No. The academy does not promise permanent or lifetime access.
Students receive access until course completion, followed by the applicable post-completion PTCE review period.
Can I review lessons more than once?
Yes. Students may revisit course materials while their access remains active.
Can I share my course access?
No. Enrollment and course access are assigned to the original student.

PTCB Certification
Does completing the course make me eligible for the PTCE?
Successful completion meets PTCB’s recognized education pathway requirement.
PTCB separately reviews the candidate’s complete application and determines examination eligibility.

Yes. PTCB currently permits candidates to qualify through either:

Where is the PTCE taken?
The PTCE is currently administered in person at authorized Pearson testing centers.
